YAHOO JAPAN: YOSHIKI suddenly cancels attendance of Award Ceremony in U.S., travels to Japan from New York

YOSHIKI has had to suddenly cancel his attendance of the “37th Award of Honor Gala”, scheduled in San Francisco on November 1st, due to an unexpected loss in the family. It was revealed that he had to return to Japan in an emergency.

YOSHIKI was slated to receive the Award of Honor from Japan Society of Southern California, the most prestigious award at their annual ceremony, in recognition of his achievements in spreading Japanese culture around the world and his wide range of philanthropic activities, including support for refugees in Ukraine and disaster relief.

According to sources, YOSHIKI finished the final performance of his classical world tour at New York's Carnegie Hall on October 28th after performing in Japan, UK, and Los Angeles, and then traveled to Japan from New York where he had been staying.

The award ceremony that he was scheduled to attend was held by the Japan Society of Northern California (JSNC), an American non-profit organization (NPO) that is based in Silicon Valley and has a history of over 110 years. Past recipients of the Award of Honor include Professor Shinya Yamanaka , winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, and former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
