YOSHIKI Joins Diana Ross for Surprise Performance in Japan, Accompanying Emotional Rendition of “If We Hold On Together”

Sudden Invitation to Join Ross On Stage in Tokyo And Osaka Sparks Rumors of Collaboration For YOSHIKI's Upcoming Concerts at Walt Disney Concert Hall

YOSHIKI made a surprise guest appearances at two sold-out concerts by legendary singer Diana Ross, joining the music icon for special performances of the classic ballad "If We Hold On Together".

The collaborations took place May 23 at K-Arena Yokohama and May 25 at Osaka-Jo Hall.

Ross personally invited YOSHIKI to appear after the two connected ahead of the Tokyo performance. Despite an ongoing schedule of international projects and rehearsals in Los Angeles, YOSHIKI traveled to Japan at the last minute to participate in the concerts.

During the Yokohama show, Ross introduced YOSHIKI to the crowd as a “very, very special guest,” prompting a thunderous ovation from the packed arena. Standing beside his signature crystal piano, YOSHIKI joined Ross for a live rendition of "If We Hold On Together" as audience members illuminated the venue with smartphone lights.

Midway through the performance, Ross spontaneously asked YOSHIKI to continue playing, and he extended the song into an improvised arrangement that led to a venue-wide singalong and sustained applause.

The collaboration quickly became a trending topic across social media in Japan, leading Ross to personally invite YOSHIKI to return for her Osaka performance two days later.

At the Osaka concert, Ross again welcomed YOSHIKI to the stage, telling the audience it was “truly an honor” to perform together for a second time. Accompanied by YOSHIKI on piano, the pair delivered another performance of “If We Hold On Together,” with Ross encouraging the audience to sing along.

YOSHIKI commented, "Diana improvises with absolute freedom on stage; I was deeply impressed. It's in those moments of improvisation that I see the true essence of an artist. I would be delighted to share the stage with her again in the future - perhaps at Disney Hall."

In July, YOSHIKI will headline “YOSHIKI CLASSICAL 2026,” a two-night engagement at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on July 16 and 17.
